Mosques in Punjab

The word mosque comes from the Arabic word, masjid, which means a place where one prostrates oneself, or a place of worship. The concept of the mosque originated during the life of Prophet Muhammad, who built the first mosque during his Prophethood in Medina.
The famous and most visited Mosques and Mausoleums in Punjab are, Chilla Baba Seikh Farid at Faridkot City, Imam Nasir Mausoleum and Jamma Masjid at Jalandhar City, Mazaar, Pir Baba Haji Rattan at Bathinda City, Qadian at Batala, Rauza Sharif at Sirhind and The Moorish Mosque at Kapurthala City.
