Gurdwara in Amritsar
Amritsar is a tourist destination and is very popular option for tourists who plan to visit North India. The place has many religious sites and offers a lot of sightseeing options as well. When you talk of Amritsar, the one site that hovers around your head is the famous Golden Temple. This is the top draw for all who visit Amritsar. The popular structure was laid in the 14th century AD by Guru Ram Das and has over the years become one of the highly popular religious destinations for the Sikh community. Even though the place is a Sikh religious center but it is visited by all and sundry. People from different community visit the place every year and offer their prayers in their own holy way.
Apart from the Golden Temple, Amritsar also remains a living example of the place where hundreds and thousands of people were killed during the Jallianwalla Bagh Tragedy. This spot is now open to the tourists who throng in large number to absorb the shock, pain and trauma of the infamous killing of Indians (children, men and women) that took place in 1920 by the hands of British.
