Chandigarh Carnival 2012

Attraction of Carnival: Bollywood playback singer Alka Yagnik and Punjabi sufi singer Satinder Sartaj

CHANDIGARH: Dreamland is where one will reach this year, when they head to the Chandigarh Carnival, which kicks off at Leisure Valley, Sector 10, on November 23. The three-day carnival will have cartoon characters welcoming the visitors at the entrance and various fun activities, games and delicious cuisine on offer.

A huge replica of the Disney World of Florida, US, being set up at the Leisure Valley will be the highlight of the carnival.

About 40 stalls, each offering a different activity, will be set up at the carnival village.

An amusement park, a mini rock garden and an array of food stalls will keep the visitors occupied.

Cultural and folk performances from north eastern states will go on at the carnival.

"While Friday evening will witness a mask dance performance from Sikkim, Punjabi singer Satinder Sartaj will perform on Saturday. Bollywood singer Alka Yagnik will treat the visitors to her melodious voice on the concluding evening of the carnival," said CITCO general manager A K Malhotra.

College students will prepare the tableaus of famous cartoon characters like Micky Mouse, Tom and Jerry, Donald Duck, Scooby-Doo and Shaggy to display at the carnival.

As part of the carnival, the Museum and Art Gallery opposite the carnival village, will hold a vintage cars' exhibition.
